How to Paint Exterior Walls Like a Professional

A Different Skill Set

Painting exterior walls is fundamentally different from interior work. The surfaces are rougher, conditions are more challenging, and failures are visible to everyone. Professional exterior painting requires specific techniques.

Surface Preparation

Clean walls with a pressure washer or stiff brush. Remove loose paint by scraping. Repair cracks with flexible filler. Treat efflorescence. Let dry completely for at least 48 hours.

Primer Is Non-Negotiable

Superlac Acrylic Primer seals the porous surface, prevents alkaline reactions, and provides a uniform base. Apply one full coat and allow six hours drying time.

Application Technique

Work from top to bottom. Cut in with a brush, then roll. Apply in the morning when cooler. Maintain a wet edge. Apply two coats ? first thinned with 10 percent water, second at full strength.

Weather Considerations
